There is no limit to the number of attempts when it comes to IES services.
Every category have unlimited number of attempts.

Details of IES(Indian Engineering services )is as follows:-
1. IES is conducted by the UPSC every year.
2.An engineering Graduate from the recognized University in any discipline and opting subjects from Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics Communication engg)can write UPSC IES entrance examinations.
3.Age: General: 21-30 years, OBC: 21-33 years, S/c S/T: 21-35 years, PWD: 10 years.
4.Nationality: Indian.
5.Attempts: General: 4 attempts. OBC:** 7 attempts.S/C S/T: No limit.
As per IES eligibility an OBC candidate can try to clear IES UPSC entrance exam. maximum 7 times.

Maximum Number of Attempts in IES for All Categories:
CATEGORY MAXIMUM NO. OF ATTEMPTS IN IES General 4 times under Age Limit OBC 7 times under Age Limit Physically Disables 7 times under Age Limit SC/ST Can attempt as long as age limit satisfies.
Other Qualification Required for IES:
-> Bachelor of Engineering degree in any onn stream given below
* Electrical Engineering.
* Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
* Civil Engineering.
* Mechanical Engineering.
-> Age must be in between 21 to 30 years as on 1st august 2014.3 years age relaxation for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST and residence of jammu and Kashmir,10 years for Physically disables.
