IES stands for Indian Engineering Services.
IES exam is conducted by UPSC every year for the recruitment of candidates in different services such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics engineering.
OBC category candidates are allowed to appear to appear for a maximum of 7 times.
The Eligibility Criteria for Number of Attempts is as follows:
General 4
OBC 7
PH 7
SC/ST No Limit

[FONT=arial]UPSC conduct IES exams to make recruitment in different Govt. departments for different Engineering service post.The selection procedure for the exam includes written test & personal interview round.The candidates need to qualify the written test first then they are qualify for the personal interview round.written test consist of 1000 marks where as the personality test consist of 200 marks.
Eligibility:
Educational Qualification:- [/FONT]Degree in :

� Electronics & Communications Engineering
� Civil Engineering
� Mechanical Engineering
or equivalent degree from recognized universities.

The number of attempts for the exam depends upon category to which you belong :
For general candidates it is only four.
OBC candidates enjoys seven attempts.
