Dear CDS - Combined Defense Service Examination is defense sector examination that is conducted by UPSC board twice a year and generally UPSC board has decided following number of attempts to appear for various UPSC exams
>> 4 attempts for general category candidates
>> 7 attempts for Other Backward Class candidates
>> No limitations for SC/ST category candidates but only till 35 years of age
But these number of attempts does not applies in case of defense sector examination because there is a fixed age limitation that decides number of attempts for a aspirant who want to appear for this exam and age limit is following with qualification for various sections of UPSC CDS exam
Indian Military Academy : Must posses a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and age should not be less than 19 years and more than 24 years
Indian Naval Academy : Must have passed graduation in engineering means should posses a degree in any discipline of engineering from a recognized university and age should be between 19-22 years
Air Force Academy : Must have qualified in a degree with mathematics and physics as a compulsory subject or as degree in engineering and minimum age required is 19 years and maximum age required is 23 years for AFA section
Officers Training Academy : Must have bachelor's degree in any discipline and age should be between 19-25 years for this section examination
Now you can see that you can not apply for these exams after crossing the mentioned maximum age limitation that is why you can appear for this exam only till the completion of maximum age limit and there is no upper age relaxation provided by the board or government for this exam and you should visit at www.upsc.gov.in for more details about upcoming examination because this year CDS II is going to be conducted at 08-09-2013
