NO. OF ATTEMPTS FOR THE UPSC EXAMINATION IS Civil Service Examination - General-4, OBC-7, SC/ST- No restriction i.e. IF YOU ARE COMING IN GENERAL CATEGORY THEN YOU HAVE TO ATTEMPT 4 TIMES UPSC EXAM.

AND IF YOU ARE COMING IN OBC CANDIDATE THEN YOU CAN ATTEMPT UPSC EXAM 7 TIMES.

AND IF YOU ARE COMING IN ST/SC CANDIDATE THEN YOU HAVE TO RESTRICTION IN EXAM i.e. YOU CAN ATTEMPT UPSC MANY TIMES WHEN YOU WANT.

or,You must be a Tibetan refugee settled permanently in India, before 1962,
or,You must be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
    # You must be 21 To 30 years of age.
However, the upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and ex-servicemen and by 3 years for OBCs.
    # You must be holding a technical degree from a recognized university in any of the four following streams,namely-
    *Electrical Engineering.
    *Mechanical Engineering.
    *Civil Engineering.
    *Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
    # THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS AREN'T RESTRICTED.
-The IES exams are conducted in June-July, like this year it is going to be conducted on 15th June, and will be happening for a period of 3 days.

Re: Is it true that general candidates are allowed only for 4 attempts in UPSC IES exams?

    Dear pal,
    • General category aspirants are given limited opportunity which is due to the reason that they were in good position in the past and with the aim of raising the standards of lower caste people concession is given to them.
    • For any UPSC exam General Category aspirant can make only four attempts unlike BC/MBC aspirant who can make 7 attempts or Sc / St who do not have any limit in attempting the exam.
    • No relaxation is provided for general category aspirant you can make use of the four attempts within the age 21 to 30 years. It is not necessary you need to appear continuously or anything like that .
    • The important thing to note in it is that one is considered to have make attempt if appears in the aptitude test though fails to complete the exam.
    • So you can take enough time before giving the exam and wasting the chance that you have got.

    Hello friend

Yes,it is absolutely true that General candidates are allowed to only attempts four(4) times for Indian Engineering services.

The no of attempts for other backward caste(obc) is seven .

The most advantage is to scheduled tribes and caste that they can attempt IES any times that there is no limit for them in UPSC examinations.

    Age limitations.

IF you are born in general category family then for IES ,your age must be between 21-30 years .

For aspirants belonging to obc there is a three year age relaxation that is 21-33 years.

For candidate of sc/st ,it is 21-35 years.

    hope the information helps you.

    all the best

    dear friend,

No, it is totally wrong that there is Limitation in number of attempts for IES(Indian Engineering Services) Exam. It is Just a misconception.

The limit of 4 attempts for general, 7 for OBC and no Limit for SC/St is only for the exams of Civil Services and IFS conducted by UPSC. For any other exam conducted by UPSC has no limitation on number of attempts within your eligibility criteria.

    Eligibility Criteria For IES:
    1. Engineering Degree
    2. Age limit:
    • General: 21 years to 30 years
    • OBC: 21 years to 33 years
    • SC/ST: 21 years to 35 years

NO,there is no limitation on the quantity of tries for the UPSC Indian engineering services.

so, you'll apply any variety of your time besides you're from any class however inside your age-limit no matter declared by upsc time to time in their notification's

i.e usually it's for the final candidates is 21-30 years.

thus smart luck be at liberty to use at any variety time simply focus on your preparation.

There is no restrictions regarding tries of Engineering Service Examination . thus don't fret you'll tries no.of times of this examination .

IES means that for Indian Engineering Service Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once during a year .

Conducts for accomplishment of :- engineering science , engineering , technology , physics and Telecommunication Engineering .

    Eligibility Criteria :-
You should have a hold the engineering degree from a recognized University OR final year of engineering might also eligible to use .
Both men and girls candidates square measure eligible and No share bar needed for this examination .
Age lies be between twenty one years and thirty years as on first august of the year of examination and higher age limits is applicable .
Last date for receipt of application on :- 09/04/12 and also the examination are going to be prevailed 17/06/12 .
Those who square measure applied of this examination and so transfer the admit cards through Official web site .
Written communicating pattern :- General ability , typical Papers and Objective Papers .
Selection method of this communicating :- Written communicating followed by Personal Interview .

there's no limits of tries , you'll tries n time of this examination .

General class aspirants square measure given restricted chance that is owing to the rationale that they were in smart position within the past and with the aim of raising the standards of lower caste folks concession is given to them.
For any UPSC communicating General class aspirant will build solely four tries not like BC/MBC aspirant WHO will build seven tries or Sc / St WHO don't have any limit in trying the communicating.
No relaxation is provided for general class aspirant you'll build use of the four tries inside the age twenty one to thirty years. it's not necessary you wish to seem ceaselessly or something like that .
The vital issue to notice in it's that one is taken into account to own build try if seems within the ability check tho' fails to complete the communicating.
So you'll take enough time before giving the communicating and wasting the possibility that you simply have gotten.

    Hello

IT IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG CONCEPTION REGARDING THE NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS FOR IES.

The students can apply for the IES as many times they want ,obviously at the same time they need to fulfill the other criteria like age limit etc.

The number of attempts is limited in case of other civil services like IAS,IPS,IFS etc.where for general candidate the limit is 4,sc/st-unlimited,obc-7.

But in case of IES no limits for attempts.

Re: Is it true that general candidates are allowed only for 4 attempts in UPSC IES exams?

Definitely dear - It is a unique fact about the UPSC board exams that there is a limitation to attempt the exams of UPSC board and the limitation is following as category wise :

General Category candidates may apply only for four times for each UPSC exam

OBC Category candidates may apply only for 7 times for each UPSC exam

SC/ST Category candidates may apply till 35 years of age for each UPSC exam means there is no limit or restriction for SC/ST category candidates to apply for this exam and if a SC/ST category candidate is applying for UPSC IES exam from 21 years of age then till 35 years of age he/she may apply about 13 times in his/her entire career which is the huge allowing for those

You should not worry and prepare hard for each and every exam for which you are prepare and as for as my views are concerned that hard workers does not care about the time and number of attempts and toughness of examination because they only care about the target that they have to get it at any cost so that you also should care about the qualifying the exam and to get qualified you should prepare hard for this exam so that you could easily get success.

    All the best
