STAGES OF EXAM:-
Exam conducts on 3 stages.
1)Preliminary exam
2)Main exam
3)Interview
The question of Preliminary exam will come from the graduation level courses.
The syllabus includes general knowledge and general awareness, English, quantitative analysis aptitude etc.
The preliminary paper is also divided in to two papers.
Each paper duration is 120 minutes.
The candidates who have cleared the preliminary exam are only allowed to appear for the Main Examination.
The main exam consists of 9 papers.
After qualifying the Main exam candidates have to appear for the Interview process.

i would say a strict 6 months preparation is requried for the civils prepapration .give a comlete reading of ncrt and cbsc 6th to 10th text books and buy a material available in the market for it. i wud say along with the preliminary u shud also start the mains preparation also,becoz by the time u get ur preliminary results u wil be left out with only one for mains.
