How an ECE engineer can become an IPS officer?
I am an 1st year B.tech(branch : ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING). I am studying in TECHNO INDIA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY situated in KOLKATA. I am an average student of my class. I want to become an IPS officer.My 10th and 12th percentage were 89% and 78% respectively from CBSE board. Please give me the proper guidance and complete information, about how I can become an IPS officer?

You can become an IPS officer through Civil Services Exam. Civil Services Exam is conduced by UPSC every year.
For Civil Services you must have completed graduation or appearing in final year of graduation.
So as you said your are in first year of B.Tech ECE and so you can't apply this year. you can only apply for Civil Services Exam in final year of your B.tech(4th year).
i will advice you to start preparing for the Civil Services Exam as you have three years for preparation. It will make you well prepared for the exam.


Eligibility Criteria For Civil Services:


>>you must have completed or appearing in final year of graduation.
>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.



Limit Number Of Attempts:

>>General category: 4 attempts

>>OBC category: 7 attempts

>>SC/ST category: No Limit

i think you are very much interested in doing by the way you said that you are in first year B.tech and you want to pursue for the IPS officer.first of all you should complete your graduation and there after you should apply for the civil services examination for the post.it doesnot require any percentage for the exam but you should pass all the subjects without any backlogs and you should complete your graduation from a recognized university or a equivalent to the course of any stream that you are interested .you should prepare for the syallbus such as physical ,education from both sides inorder to qualify for the exam.

The essential qualification for the CSAT of the UPSC for IPS officer is to pass the Bachelor degree in any discipline at any recognized university. The age limit for the examination is within 21 to 30 years. The upper age limit for OBC is 03 years, for SC/ST is 05 years. There is only 04 attempts for the General, 07 attempts for OBC, and up to 35 years age of SC/ST candidates.
