Indian economic topic is the most feared topic among the aspirants. you need to have good knowledge in the economics topics in order to understand the news mentioned under the economics section of all the newspaper.for example sometimes repo rate is mentioned but if you dont know what an repo rate means then you cannot understand the news item.
so you have to put some effort to understand the economics topic so that you will be able to understand the news related to economics topics.
many people suggest datt and sundaram,mishra puri ,uma kapila etc.. but from these books you cannot understand the basics.
so first start with the ncert books understand the basics. search in the net learn all the basic terms. slowly you will get acquintance and you will be able to understand.so first clear your basics properly before diving in to high funda books and dont research too much on one topic.
