Scaling process is changed every year depending upon the no.of candidates appeared and the no.of vacancies... So its very tough to derive the scaling process.. But negative markings are there so you must be careful of you answer if its a multiple choice question.. You will move back to lakhs of ranks even if you reduce by 2 to 3 marks...
Choose a subject which is very easy for you and in which not much theory is there because getting mark in theory is very tough compared to problems or derivations..
