dear friend,
it is a competitive exam so percentage does not matter here. you are qualified in
Preliminary exam only on the basis of merit. if you cleared the Preliminary exam then you have to give UPSC Mains exam.
There is no condition regarding marks percentage on Educational qualifications for UPSC competitive exams. Minimum Qualification for posts is to Pass Their Bachelor's degree from any recognized university... Selection criteria based on only Merit marks scored in preliminary exam to qualify for UPSC main exam... So, don't get tension on marks percentage of degree... Be practice for preliminary exam... ALL THE BEST
the qualifying marks is the cutoff marks, which is the marks obtained by the candidate of last qualifying rank, i.e., the last candidate to be eligible to appear for the upsc mains examinations.
a rough idea of the cutoff/qualifying marks are as mentioned below(as the cutoffs every year revolve around these basic values):
# GEN-248
# OBC-240
# SC-231
# ST-225
hope it helps.
Dear friend there is no minimum percentage of mark to require for this examination and this examination is conducted by union public service commission for every year and this exam is conducted three stages there are
>>Preliminary
>>Main

Thank You very much .... for the replies ....
As it can't be said with pre-determined cut-off
but generally 60% around of the total (0r 240-260)
is said to be safe to get through the prelim's of mains.
so try to inch towards them ,or as you have already expected that given the examination of this year, so leave all the worry. just concentrate to assume that you will be qualify ,,prepare for MAINS heartly.
As who knows what you are getting will fall in the category of QUALIFIED candidates, then you if not prepared for the mains then you are on the loser's side definitely..that will probably will cause much havoc to you so go on hard preparation.
On the basis of previous years analysis The cut-off marks is expected to be between 215-230 out of 400.
But this may not be the actual range.
Cut-off marks is different in every year.
So if you are expecting below 215 please don't be upset...wait for final result to be declared
All the best!
dear friend
you would be glad to know that there's no percentage or marks criteria in upsc.Doesn't matter may be you score more or less but you have to be very much serious about the upsc exam because it really matters if you score less in upsc as the competition is getting tougher and tougher
