Hi,
There is no minimum marks in UPSC exam. UPSC is a competitive exam in which you have to perform better than other candidates who are appearing with you. If you perform better than others, you will have more chances to be selected in IPS. So, try to get as many marks as you can.
All the Best
Hello,
dear if you want to give IPS exam n become a IPS officer then you should have only graduate degree in any stream from recognized university. UPSC doesn't require percentage of marks.
Thanks
Jeet Masih
First of all you have to give the UPSC CSE exam for getting the post of IPS .
For giving the exam you have to fulfill the below criteria :
-> one should done their graduation from any recognized university
-> A final year student can also eligible for applying the exam , but before the main exam one have to complete the graduation .
-> age limit is 21-30 for general cast , 3 years relaxation for obc , 5 years relaxation for sc/st/ex-serviceman , 10 years relaxation for physically handicapped .
So if you fulfill above criteria then and then you can give the exam .
Exam have three parts .
1) Preliminary exam
2) Main exam
3) Interview
The final selection will be based on marks secured in main exam plus interview together .
The final cut off is depend on the number of candidates appeared in the exam , type papers etc .
UPSC will never disclose the cut off marks .
So you have to get the marks maximum so that your chances for selection will be increased .
Thank you...
Dear if you ask about the cut off marks for IPS post then you would not get the actual information because dear the cut off marks of every year exams, always comes different and it is increasing every year because of the stiff competition and only those candidates are getting qualified in the prelims and mains examination who are studying hardly for each and every single topic of the syllabus and always done accurate questions in the examination and for your kind information i have mentioned the cut off marks of previous years for UPSC IAS/IPS Preliminary examination
Cut off marks for year
General - 248
OBC - 240
Scheduled Caste - 231
Scheduled Tribe - 225
Physically Handicapped I - 227
Physically Handicapped - II - 211
Physically Handicapped - III - 182
Mains Examination contains - 2000 marks for various 9 papers but the candidates should have at least following cut off marks in the mains exam to get call for interview process
We have seen in the previous years that the cut off marks for mains examination comes around 850-900 marks out of 2000 and if you score more than 1200 then you would come under the top rank and for your kind information that your final selection depends on two things which are following
Mains Examination Marks - 2000
Interview Process Marks - 300
Total 2300 marks and a candidate should have more than 1250 marks out of 2000 and these 1250 marks should be combined of both mains examination and interview process so that dear you should prepare according to score at least 1250 marks separate in the mains exam then try to score more than 200 in interview process and other tests then you would be finally selected for the post of IPS Officer
All the best
Dear Friend
Your query is a bit confusing .However from my point of view I think that you are asking about the marks to be secured in civil services examinations in order to become an IPS officer.
IPS stands for the Indian Police officer. If you want to join the Indian Police services then you must pass or clear all the three stages of the civil services examinations.
Friend, there is no such requirement.Every year after the completion of each stage pf examinations ,UPSC sets a minimum cut off marks according to which candidates are selected for the further stages.
After the completion of all the three stages that is preliminary ,main and personal interview,UPSC once again sets a cut off marks then prepare a merit list .
Depending upon the merit list candidates are alloted ranks .Top ranks holder get the Indian Administrative services then IPS and then IFS.
So,it is not possible for me to give you exact marks which need to secure so that you can join Indian Police services.
Hope the information helps you.
All the best

hello,
there is not sure about minimum marks in any compititve exams .
that all depends on number of post and number of student they have applied for that perticuler post.
after that they decide cutoff for that student and then if you are in that limit then also you can eligilble for mains ..like that.
i hope that will help .
Dear,
Civil service exam is the competitive exam, there is no particular fix the cut off marks in the exam,
Each and every year the cut off marks list is variable.
You target on the above 50% marks in over all merit list.
Then you easily got the seat.
For the ips exam candidate must have graduate in any stream from the approved university.
The percentage of the marks is no matter for the exam.
For more information please update with the www.upsc.gov.in
Best of luck
