Regarding the Similarity you can take math and Geography subject as your optional subject for the preparation of mains exam.

the subjects with quite similarities in syllabus are not allowed to choose as optional subjects together. like combination of Mathematics and Statistics are not allowed as optional subjects.
but if you want i will refer you to choose Public Administration and History as your optional subjects. As these two subjects are easy to understand and the study material for these subjects are also easily available online. These two subjects are hot favorite among aspirants. also these subjects are considered easy to crack subjects.
