Dear this year UPSC board has changed the examination pattern of civil service in which, only two papers will be conduced for optional subject and you will be allowed to choose anyone optional subject for mains examination and you may choose anyone from the mentioned above subjects and you may also see that Mass Communication subject is not there in the list so this may not be chosen as optional subject but you may choose Political Science and International Relations as optional subject and this will be good for you because if you are prepared well then you may easily qualify both papers and may score very good marks in the examination so just use some good books and prepare well for this examination

for the post of IAS you have to apply for Civil Services Exam that is conducted by UPSC every year. You can apply for Civil Services exam after or while appearing in final year of your graduation.

From this year UPSC made some changes in selection of optional subjects. from this year you have to choose only one optional subject from the list of optional subjects.
