Hello
The IPS officers selection is done through the UPSC exams known as CSE(Civil Service Examination),the process of selection is of three stages
1)Preliminary Exam.
2)Mains Exam.
3)Interview.
Each stage is a knock out stage and will have to clear the preceding stage in order to reach the succeeding stages.
Now this is the only process through which you can get in to IPS,and there exists no such quota, like sports or any other quota.
You will have to get selected through this three stages in order to become a IPS officer,no quota is there, for any field, only there is some relaxation for the reserved and backward categories in case of age and number of attempts, that is only the difference and nothing else.
