The age limit for giving the examinations for different category of peoples
is minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years.
21-30 years as on 1.7.2012. (Upper [COLOR=#990000 !important]age limit[/COLOR] relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as[COLOR=#990000 !important]specified[/COLOR] in Para 3(ii) of Notice).
Age limit Criteria of Civil Service Examination
The minimum age required to appear in this examination is 21 years
and the maximum age is depending upon their category if their category is general then the maximum age limit is 30 years of age ,If the category is of OBC they will get 3 years relaxation and their max age limit is 33 years of age.
if they belong to sc/st category then their age limit is relaxed upto 5 years i.e., the maximum age limit is 35 years of age.

- upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
- upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes.
- upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989.
- upto a maximum of 3 years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled during hostilities with foreign countries or in a disturbed area and consequently released.
- upto a maximum of 5 years in the case of ex-servicemen.
- upto a maximum of 5 years in the case of ECOs / SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment (5 years Military Service) as on August 1 of the year of examination
- upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and orthopaedically handicapped candidates.
The age limit to appear in the civil services exam for general candidates is within 21-30 years as on 1st august of the year of exam, sc/st will get 3 years of relaxation and obc will get 5 years of relaxation..
