The actual date of births calculated should be between 2nd August of the maximum year to 1st August Minimum year.It means,as you are OBC candidate, for 2014 exam of Civil services if your date of birth is between 2nd August 1981 to 1st August 1993 then you would be eligible. It renders you as an ineligible candidate but it would be better to double check with the CS notification next year

    • No, you can't attempt for the Civil services examination (For IAS) next year.
    • Firsly you are required to have the graduation degree in any of the stream from an recognised university.
    • The age limit which is stated here is 21 years to 30 years.
    • But since you are an OBC category student, the upper age limit must be 33 years.
    • As per your date of birth of 05-july-1981, you would have already crossed the 33 years as on 1st august 2014 (Cut off date).
    • However you can checkout the notification for confirmation next year.

    hi
I am sorry to say but you are not eligible of giving the UPSC civil services exam because the date of birth is been calculated from the 2nd august basis, and for the year 2014, the eligibility is that your date of birth should be not before 2nd august 1981, and as your D.O.B is before 2nd august 1981, you are not eligible

For IAS Post, you need to give the civil services exam.

Required age criteria for Civil services exam are as follows:

Candidate must have less than 21 years and more than 30 years for general category.

There is upper age relaxation as follows for reserved category candidates.

The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum is 33 years for OBC Category.

The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum is 35 years for SC/ST Category.

The minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum is 40 years for PWD Category.

SO, as per the eligibility conditions, as you belong to OBC Category, you have the chance to apply for civil services exam, but this will be your last chance as you have attained the upper age limit of the exam.

And also you need to satisfy one more criteria i.e you need to have any degree from recognized University.

Next UPSC Civil services 2014 notification will be out by 17th May 2014 and prelims exam is on August 24, 2014.

The last date for the receipt of application form will be June 16, 2014.

The Civil Services (Main) Examination 2014 would commence from December 14, 2014.
