Re: What percentages are required in 10th, 12th and graduation if I want to become an IAS officer later?

    Hello

The percentage is always have been a huge issue when it comes to academic career of a student. And in many sense, the percentage is really important factor as it defines how well are you in your subjects and how will you handle the situations when you will be in a post(job) for a company,as only subjects that you read in your academic career will help you to do the job properly,it defines how hard working you are,as you must have worked hard to get high percentage(if you have a high percentage in your career).

But basically every exam that is conducted by UPSC has a unique feature, they do not ask for any minimum percentage, only they want is that the candidates have passed the required exam.

Actually there are two basic reasons for this

The UPSC exams has a rigorous process of entrance exam for any post that they conducts, every candidates have to go through the rigorous session of entrance and competitive exams,so the UPSC board decide the merits the candidates on that entrance, that is why they have lifted the percentage bar.

Other is that in many UPSc exams, the subjects on which the exam is conducted is completely different to those which the candidates studied during their course.
So the prequisite knowledge of those subjects are not necessarily important.

Like for applying in the Indian engineering services, any candidates having a engineering degree is applicable in any stream but will have to apply under the four branches civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and telecommunication.Hence you must have got my point,do not worry about the percentage when it comes to UPSC exams.
