    No it is not true that biotech engineers are not eligible for the IES exam..The candidates who have passed graduation in any stream from recognized university can apply for it...
    The ones who pass it are supposed to apply for the following streams and they are:

    * Civil
    *Mechanical
    *Electronics
    * Electrical..

    Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Indian Engineering Service Exam

    A bachelor's degree in engineering in any one of the following disciplines from a recognized university

    Civil Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

    Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

    Dear if you have completed your bachelor's degree in Biotechnology Engineering then you are not eligible to apply for IES examination but you may apply for other UPSC exams which are following as

    Eligibility for UPSC Civil Service Examination

    A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and final year pursuing candidates are also eligible to apply and age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age follows same as mentioned above

    Eligibility for Indian Forest Service Examination

    A bachelor's degree in any one of the - Agriculture / Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science / Botany / Chemistry / Engineering / Forestry / Geology / Mathematics / Physics / Statistics / Zoology from a recognized university and age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years to apply for this examination

    You can also apply for Combined Defense Service - IMA and INA section and also for UPSC CPF - Assistance commandant examination and for more details and information you should visit at www.upsc.gov.in

    hi,
    It is not true that bio-tech students are also eligible for UPSC exam. you are not eligible for IES exam.

    IES exam stands for Indian Engineering services.

    Eligibility;-

    1)you must be passed a engineering degree in the following branch;-

    ---civil

    - ----mechanical

    -----electrical

    ----electronics and communication

    2)you must be Indian citizen.

    3)you age should be between 21-30 years.

    4)you must be physically fit.



    IES exam consist a preliminary exam. after that you have to enter mains exam.

    based on your both exam,you must be called personal interview.

    YES

    this is right that Biotech Engineers are not eligible for the IES exam.

    Because IES exam is for the candidates who have done their engineering from the following streams;

    -----Mechanical

    -----Electrical

    -----Electronics & communication

    -----Civil



    so you are not eligible for the exam.

    You can aply for the other exams like IAS,IPS,IFS etc.

    For these exams you must have a bachelor degree and your age must lies in between 21-30 years.

    And the below stream candidates are only eligible to apply for

    <> Mechanical Engineering

    <> Civil Engineering

    <> Electrical Engineering

    <> ETE ...


    So you must be an Indian Citizen

    You better to apply for other Government Jobs
