because they get the highest age relaxation and no. of attempts as compared to the other category students.

1. for general category :- 21-30 years.
2. for obc category :- 21-33 years.
3. for sc/st category:- 21-35 years.

in the IAS recruitment, the relaxation in the age criteria as well in the number of attempts is given to the sc/st students.
A relaxation of 5 years is given in the age criteria. For general candidates, the age limit for giving the IAS exam is 21-30 years, whereas the age limit for the sc/st candidates is 21-35 years.
Moreover there is no restrictions in giving the exam in the 21-35 years age limit and there wont be any fees of giving the exam.
