Indian Foreign service is part of Civil services exam.The basic eligibility criteria is Graduation from any stream from a recognised University and age limit 21-30years for general category.You will have 3 main parts of exam-Prelims,mains and Interview.Each part will be liminatory i.e. those who qualify for prelims will go for Mains and then those qualifying in mains will go for Interview and then the final selection.The notification for Civil services is over this year and the prelims are scheduled to be on 26th May.You need to wait for next year for the exam.Check the website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in for this years notification to know about the details of exam pattern and also in the website you will find previous year question papers

For Becoming IFS Officer following Eligibility Criteria are Required.
>> Bachelor�s degree with at least one of the subject:
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology,
Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology
>> Or Bachelor�s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognized University
>> Age limit is 21-30 years.
>> Candidate Must be Citizen of India.
And Exam Notification is in following months:
>> Notification of Examination February/March
>> Examination Conducted in July
There three steps in UPSC Exam.
>> First Step Is Prelims Exam.
>> There is multiple choice Questions paper
>> There are two Paper
1. General English
2. General Studies
>> If You clear Prelims then you have to appear in Mains Exam
In this Exam there also two paper of Descriptive type. Subject you have choose at the time of form filling.
>> If you clear Mains Exam then there is Personal Interview.
If you clear these three steps then you will become IFS Officer.
