    Physical eligibility criteria for an IFS exam?

    Sir,I have myopia.My eyesight power is -6 in both eyes.Am i eligible for IFS(Indian Forest Service).

    hello friend,

    UPSC has not fix any specific criteria for the physical standard for IFS.
    There is no factor for physical fitness
    But most of the UPSC exams wants their candidate to be physically fit.
    They also have to fit in the sence of mentally.

    criteria for men-
    1. Min. height- 165cm and 5cm relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
    2. Weight should be suitable with height.
    3. Chest- 84cm (min) and 5cm relaxation for obc/sc/st.

    criteria for women-
    1. Height - min. 150cm and 5cm relaxation for obc/sc/st.
    2. Weight should be suitable with height.
    3. Chest- min.79cm and 5cm relaxation for sc/st/obc.

    NOTE- Eyesight should be normal without glass 6/6 for all men and women. With glass max.6/12 is eligible. colour blindness should not be there, also pregnency is not allowed for women at the time of test. These are the physical eligibility criteria for an IFS exam.

    physical criteria for men-
    height should be minimum 165cm.
    weight should be suitable with height.
    chest-84 cm

    for woman-
    height should be minimum 150cm.
    weight should be suitable with height.

    IFS stands for Indian forest service.This examination is conducted by union public service commission for every year.

    Eligibility criteria for men:-
    >>The candidate minimum height-165 cm and 5cm relaxation for sc/st/obc candidates
    >>The applicant weight should be suitable with height
    >>The applicant chest minimum 84cm and 5cm relaxation for sc/st candidates.

    Eligibility criteria for women:-
    >>The applicant minimum height 150cm and 5 cm relaxation for sc/st candidates
    >>The applicant weight should be suitable with height
    >>The applicant minimum breast 79cm and 5cm relaxation for sc/st candidates.

    Note:-Eye sight should be normal without glass 6/6 for all men and women.With glass maximum 6/12 is eligible, color blindness should not be there,also pregenency is not allowed for women at the time of test.These are the phyical eligibility criteria for an IFS examination.

    Since IFS is not a part of defense so there is no specific Physical standards.
    Basic eligibility required:
    -graduation in any of the Science subjects, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Geology, Maths or Statistics, Agriculture or Forestry
    -Min age-21 years & max age -30 years
    -citizen of India

    Indian Forest Service Examination(I.F.S.) is conducted by U.P.S.C every year.
    To appear in This examination you must satisfy the eligibility criteria.

    PHYSICAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :-


    The physical standard required for the IPS exam is given below:

    Height:-
    Minimum height required for men is 165 cm
    Minimum height required for women is 150 cm
    There is a relaxation in height for SC/ST,OBC,Gorkhas, Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals etc. candidates for men it is 160cm and for women it is 145 cm.

    Chest �
    Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
    Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

    Ear-
    Good listening & normal ear cavity.
    1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment shd not be more than 30 decibels.

    Eye sight �
    6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye.
    High standard for the Color-blind test.
    No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic.

    Blood pressure (High) �
    Age 23 � 123, age 24 � 124, age 25 �122, age 28 � 124, age 30 �125, age 32 � 126, age 34 � 127.
    Ladies should not be pregnant at the time of Medical Test.

    Running 2.5 kilometers in 15 minutes
    Push ups , pull ups - 20 , sit ups -20
    Rope climbing 3 meters per minute

    --You must have completed a Bachelor�s degree from a recognized University with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor�s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

    --Your age should between 21 to 30 years. Upper age limit is relaxed for lower caste candidates.

    --To appear in Indian Forest Service Examination You need to be medically fit In all the respects.

    dear aspirant,Eligibility criteria for IFS:
    1.Age limit is 21-30 years.
    2.OBC and SC/ST category gets age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years respectively.
    3.Candidates should fulfill the adequate physical standards.
    4.GRADUATION from a recognized university with atleast one of the subjects namely:
    Animal Husbandry and veterinary Science, Botony, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology, Agriculture, Forestry or Engineering

    General candidates only 4 attempts are permissible.
    SC/ST candidates there is no limits in number of attempts.
    O.B.C candidates there Only 7 attempts are permissible.

    How to apply for IFS :
    Candidates can apply for the IFS examination conducted by UPSC both online and offline mode.
    1.In offline mode, candidates can purchase forms from a nearby designated Post Offices by a cash payment of Rs. 30/-.
    2.Online application you have to visit www.upsconline.nic.in

    EXAM PATTERN:-
    1.The examination contains both objective and subjective type questions.
    2.English, Technical questions and General Awareness questions are very important.
    In addition to this, candidates should select two optional subjects also.
    Optional subjects include Forestry, Agriculture, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Agricultural, Mechanical and Civil Engineering Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
    Each paper is divided into two sections.
    The time duration for each paper is three hours.

    For IFS exam,candidates must be medically and physically fit.
    In any exam eyesight is very important.So eye must be normal 6/6.Otherwise candidates fail in medical test.
    And exam eligibility are candidates must have graduation degree in any forestry related subject.
    Age and relaxation - 21 to 30 years for general candidates .
    21 to 33 for Other Backward Caste.
    21 to 35 for Schedule Caste.
    He/She must be Indian citizen.

    IFS :Indian Forest Services conducted by UPSC every year:
    Eligibility regarding physical fitness:

    Male:

    **During the time of physical test an women must not be pregnant.
    Eye sight must be normal 6/6 and 6/12 for worst eye must be free from color & night blind.

    **Running capacity: 2.5 kms within 15minutes.
    **Push up Pull up..20 sit-up-20.
    **Rope climbing per minutes 3(three)meters.
    Age eligibility: Gen: 21-30 years OBC: 21-33 years .S/c S/T: 21-35 years.

    Attempts: Gen. 4 times.OBC: 7 times S/C S/T: no limit.

    Candidates to appear IFS must be a graduate and should be from Botany/Agriculture/Forestry/Vaterynery science/zoology/chemistry/statistics/physics/mathematics streams.
