it will take a whole book to describe the duties of ips officers.
yet it would be suffice to say that ips officers are the head of
police forces like state police, cbi, bsf and nsg.

all the work that the police forces do is what ips officers do.
there are lots of powers, but there are corresponding responsibilities.
