with the advent of computer technology upsc now has started taking online applications along with offline or postal applications. Upsc application can be made online or offline both ways
For offline applications you will have to visit head post office to buy the upsc form . then you can easily fill the form and send to the appropriate address.
For online applications you will have to log on to www.onlineupsc.nic.in where you can fill the form following the given there .the online form filling consist of two parts namely registration part I and registration part II. After filling the you can easily make submit.
Eligibility criteria for upsc exams is:
1. Candidate should have completed graduation or engineering from a college under a recognized university.
2. Candidate appearing in final year can also apply for the upsc exam.
3. Age limit for upsc exam is 21 to 30 years.
4. Candidate belonging to OBC and SC/ST category gets an age relaxation of 3 and 5 years respectively.
Age limit is below :
21-30 for general category
21-33 for OBC category
21-35 for SC/ST category
21-40 for physically handicapped .

In case of civil services exam
1) candidates have to apply via online through upsconline.nic.in, there is no offline application
While filling the application form, care must be taken to enter correct date of birth. Once entered it cannot be modified.
candidates other than female/SC/ST/PH have to pay fees of Rs.50 either thorugh online transfer, credit/debit card or through offline mode via SBI bank and enter the challan number in application form.
A scanned image of photo and signature has to be attached. The details of the storage size and pixel details will be given in the notification, kindly refer
after submitting the form, note registration ID, using this ID only we have to later download admit card.

2) candidates who have cleared prelims have to fill a detailed application form at the time of mains, indicating the optional subjects, medium to be used etc.
