IAS post you had to crack the civil service exam conduct by upsc
for preliminary test=concentrate on civics,geography,history,sociology ,general science,basic maths problems (10th level) and english language comprehension skills(10th level)
preliminary test=
-part 1=contains 200 marks
-part 2=contains 200 marks
each part exam durations is 2 hrs.
**if the candidate clear the preliminary test,then only allowed to appear for civil service exam
-changes in the syllabus and scheme for main exam=
-the main exam comprises of 7 papers in all.
-now the students have to appear for just one optional subjects with 2 papers of 250 marks each
-I)paper 1 contains 2 sections
a)section 1=has essay of 200 marks
b)section 2=have english comprehension and precis of 100 marks.
general studies will have 4 papers of 250 marks each
-II)PAPER 2= general studies (indian heritage and culture,history and geography of the world and society
-III)paper 3=general studies of governance,constitution,polity,social justice,international relation
-III)paper 4=general studies of technology,economic development,biodiversity,environment,security,disa ster management
-IV)paper 5=general studies of ethics,integrity and aptitude.
