I am soory to say that no electronic equipment like simple and scientific calculator, mobile phones and pager etc not allowed in the UPSC exams. These instructions are also mentioned on the backside of admit cards.
Dear pal,
- Competitive exams are to test the aspirants skill and talent. Not the aspirants skill in calculation is tested in the test.
- The calculation part of the sums will be simple involving addition, division etc. The understanding of the concepts by the aspirant is only tested in the exam.
- It is necessary that you should have good technical background to clear the exam that is conducted.
- In addition to the calculators, mobile phones, and few other things also not allowed for the exam .
- So do not worry you can do well even without calculators provided you have good understanding of the subject.

Dear
you are allowed to calculators which have no storage the any type of the memory. means the external memory is not store in the calculator.
simple calculator is allowed for the only ies exam.
other wise no other electronic equipment is allowed for the examination hall.
mobile phone, pager, memory storage calculator or other electronic device is not allowed for the exam.
all the best
I think electronic calculators are allowed in the Indian Engineering Service exam, because theory portion you can solve but in numeric portion, how can it solve without calculator. Apart from that you can see the instruction in the back side of your admit card also.
