National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national-level scholarship program in India to identify and recognize students with extremely high intellect and academic talent.

• Only students studying in Class VIII are eligible to appear for the selection process.
• As it is organized by an official body (NCERT), it is widely regarded as the toughest and most prestigious examination at high school level in the country.
• It helps students to proliferate their mental level and sharpen their minds.

Selection procedure:

• Fist Level NTSE conducted by the State / UT (usually in November)
• Second Level NTSE conducted at the National Level (usually in May)

State level examination:

• Part-I:Mental Ability Test (MAT), and
• Part-II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (with questions on History, Civics, Geography, Economics, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.)

Students of any Board studying at any recognized school can participate. Those who get qualified can enter the Second Level National Exam. The results of the same will be out on March of the same year.

National level examination:

• Part-I: Mental Ability Test (MAT)

• Part-II: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)(as given above)

The results of the same shall be out by July�August the same year.

NTSE = NATINAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION and this exam is conducted by the NCERT.

NCERT = National council of education Research and Training

NCERT was started in the 1963.
The purpose of the NCERT is identify the talent of the student and nurture that talent

NTSE exam is only conducted for the student who currently studied in the 8th class.
the amount of scholarship is 500 rupees per month. and the 1000 students are selected for it.

reservation for the sc category is 15%
reservation for the ST candidate is 7.5%
for physically challenged candidate 3% is the resevation quota in exam.
