It will be better option after B.tech to go civil services. Civil services exam are conducted by upsc every year.
Civil services are more respected post as compare to other job.
You are eligible for these post after graduation degree.Your age should be between 21-30 years.
You must be citizen of India.
To join these job is not easy, you have more hard work to crack this exam.
To crack civil services exam, you have give preliminary exam ,mains exam including personality test also.
If you go other career option after B.tech, then is good not best.
The best option after that B.tech is Civil services.

It totally depends upon your career objective and goal.That what do you want to achieve in upcoming future .However Civil services is better than anything from my point of view .So I would suggest you to go for the Civil services.
Civil services examinations are conducted by the UPSC every year for the recruit of officers for the different services like :
1.Indian Administrative services.
2.Indian Police services
3.Indian Revenue services
4.Indian Foreign services.
Friend but to crack civil services is not an easy thing ,it is considered to be the most toughest exam of the India and has three different stages to select the best one in terms of everything and that is :
>>Civil services Aptitude test.
>>Main examination
>>Personal interview.
The certain requirements for the Civil services examinations are as below:
>>You should have minimum of bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized stream.
>>The age limit is 21-30 years for the general one and three years age relaxation to obc and five years to sc/st respectively.
>>You must be an Indian citizen.
No of attempts are: Four for general candidates ,seven for obc and no limit for SC/ST.

Friend, it is totally your personal matter. You have to decide yourself that whether Civil Service Examination will be suitable for you or not, After B. Tech, generally there are ample opportunities. But the candidate have to decide about his future after deep consideration, personal interest and future prospects. If you have your full interest in the Civil Service Examination, then you go for it without any hesitation.
Yes dear definitely means if you have selected civil service as your main goal of your life then nothing is better than civil service examination for you and i would also like to say you that no degree does matters for civil service examination because there will be nothing in prelims examination from your degree subject but there will be a subject in mains examination of your degree but first of all you will have to qualify preliminary examination then only you will be eligible to apply for mains examination
When you have completed a bachelor's degree in engineering discipline then you may also apply for Indian Engineering Service Examination and i would like to suggest you for this more than civil service exam because it is your relevant stream examination in which you have more chances for your selection and once you qualify this exam, you will get equal reputation as IAS Officer because you will be selected for job under central government of India that is why you should apply for this examination but before that you should confirm eligibility criteria
A bachelor's degree in engineering in any one of following disciplines '
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates
You can apply for this examination between 06-04-2013 to 06-05-2013 and can appear for examination at - 28th June 2013 so that you should start your preparation for this examination
