there will not be any change in the syllabus of UPSC mains in 2013.

If still change is included you will notified about it.

Ofcourse there are talks going on that upsc is going to change the mains pattern

but as of now nothing is pretty clear..

upsc has appointed a committee to review the pattern but the committee has not yet submitted the report..

so we have to wait for the officail word and the notification..

as of now prepare with the present pattern

Its an open question, which lakhs of candidates and coaching centres throughout india needs an answer.
NO authentic information from UPSC yet. We may know only when the notification is issued

Though the main exam date is postponed to Nov 8,2012 ,it is scheduled for 21 days.If optionals are to be removed then it should be scheduled for 10 days or so.If UPSC is waiting for the Dr.Nigavekar committee report, it should have been specified as "TO BE ANNOUNCED LATER".
Further PMO office has wrote to the Lok Sabha that change is unlikely as of now.

Recent update on UPSC mains pattern.

Prof. Nigavekar Committee�s Report submitted to UPSC in Aug 2012

and UPSC has forwarded the same with recommendations to the Government on 31.10.2012. So looks like pattern change is on its way in 2013.

dear aspirant,

there is no change made in syllabus for Civil Services exam that is conducted by UPSC for the posts of IAS, IPS, IRS etc. and Commission is not going to change it in near future.

the only one change in Civil Services exam is that Prelims exam is changed to CSAT(Civil Services Aptitude Test). Now there is no optional subjects in CSAT. There are two papers of General Studies are conducted now.
