Hello,
I am a 35 year old Christian & i am a Roman Catholic. However one of my friends told me that Christians & Muslims come under OBC category & hence i can appear for the bank & UPSC exams, provided the age limit permits depending on the criteria.
Till now i was considering myself under OPEN / GENERAL category & hence i would not go in for these exams, thinking i have already crossed the age limit.
Could you please guide me on this.

The NORMAL AGE LIMIT of UPSC EXAM IS 21-30years(AS ON 1ST AUGUST OF THE YEAR OF EXAMINATION).this age limit is for general candidates.
The upper age limit can be relaxed to a maximum of 3 years for OBC candidates.so you do have the option to appear for the exam till now
The upper age limit can be relaxed to a maximum of 5years for SC/ST EXAM

Being a Roman catholic you call under the ST category. Normally the age limit for appearing the UPSC exam is 21 to 30 yrs for general candidates which is relaxed by 5 yrs for ST/ST category.
So this was probably the last year you could have appear for this. But I doubt you have missed it by whiskers.
Anyways you can still prepare for some banks exams,but try to make it quick.

my 3 answers for you-
1- yes you are eligible for both the exams.
2- no, christians doesn`t come in obc community.
3- at many govt. places , the relaxation for obc is +3 years on of general community.

exams the bank exams as well as the upsc exam
If you are a obc candidate also
you have only chance to apply for the exam
If you are a sc/st or ph candidate
The age limit for the upsc exam is 21-30 and for banks 20-30
And relaxation will be given to the sc.st of 5 year and obc of 3 year
And the relaxation will be given to the ph candidate of 10 year

Christian comes under OBC(minority) category and their age limit is currently 21-33.
If you are comes under OBC category then you are not eligible to apply for Bank exam or Civil services examination .
To apply for Bank PO exam , you should have a completed graduate degree with any desire and final year candidates are not eligible to apply . You must secure at least 60% aggregate marks in your examination . 55% aggregate marks for reserved categories . Age should be between 21 years and 30 years . Upper age limits is applicable .

To apply for Bank clerks exam , you should have a completed 12th with any desire of a recognized School or equivalent qualification . You must secure at least 60% aggregate marks in your examination . 55% aggregate marks for reserved categories . Age should be between 18 years and 28 years . Upper age limits is applicable .
~~31 years for OBC category .
~~33 years for SC/ST category .
To apply for Civil Service exam , you should have a completed graduate degree with any desire from a recognized University and final year candidates are eligible to apply . There is no minimum marks required . Age should be between 21 years and 30 years as on 1st august of the year of examination . Upper age limits is applicable .

So , if you are belongs SC/ST candidates then only you have chance to apply for these examination .

Sorry, you are not applicable. yes Chiristians & Muslims come OBC category and age relaxation is 3 years because 21-33 but your age is out of range.

eligibility criteria for upsc exams is :
candidate must have completed graduation or engineering from a recognized university.
final year appearing candiadates can also apply for the upsc exam.
age limit for upsc exam is 21 to 30 years.
candidates belonging to OBC and SC/ST category gets age relaxation of 3 years and 5 years respectively.

AT time you are not eligible for the civil service exam. because age relaxation for the obc category is the 4 years and attempt the changes 7 times. age limit for the obc category is the 21 to 34 years. so you complete the 34 years old. now you are not eligible for the exam.
If you belong to OBC cast then also you are not eligible because you crossed the maximum age limit that are allowed for the civil service exam & bank exam .
The age limit for the CSE is below :
For OBC 21-33
The age limit for the Bank Clerk exam is below :
For OBC 18-31
The age limit for the bank PO exam is below :
For OBC 21-33
So you will neither eligible for the CSE nor the bank exam .
you should think for other exam in which you are eligible .

if you belongs to general and obc category then sorry you are not eligible for civil service exam and bank exam both.

And your age should in between 21-30 years.

Eligibility/Guidelines:
1. First a graduate or a final year candidate from a recognized university in any discipline can write UPSC conducted Civil SERVICES .
2.The age eligibility for General :21- 30 years.For OBC 21-33 years'.For S/c S/T=21-35 years' and PWD= 21-40 years.
According to your question if you belong to christian community and belong to OBC category then it is Impossible to appear in UPSC Civil Services as you have crossed the limit of 33 years.

Dear there is a huge big news for you that if you have qualification to apply for any one of the these exams then you can make your career in banking and financial sector and there is nothing in the exam means now you are 35 year old and if you have not a degree or diploma in relevant then you should go to complete MBA from a recognized university or institute and after that there would be one more year left for you so that you should prepare hard from now and get qualified in the exam

As a gov. employee you cant get age relaxation..
but >> if you beloang to any backward caste like SC/ST then you can apply till 35 year .
