hello
afer matriculation i have done three years diploma in civil engineering.after that i have done three years bachelor of arts degree in sociology,now am i eligible to appear in upsc ias exam?

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service.

UPSC conducts various competitive exam. Civil service exam is the toughest exam of India and second toughest exam in the world after French civil service.


Required Qualification for IAS

You should be graduate in any stream from any recognized university or its equivalent.

NO certain percentage required , you should be only qualified in graduation.

Final year student can also apply for UPSC exam.

Age should be 21 to 30 years

Age relaxation to eligible category

SC/ST + 5 years

OBC + 3 years

PH + 10 years

You must be Indian.

Preliminary exam has qualifying nature. In Main exam you will have to choose optional subject.

As per your graduation you can choose sociology, because it comes under the list of 24 prescribed optional subject by UPSC.

as per your educational qualifications you are fully able to apply for the upsc civil services examination.

to apply for the upsc civil services examination you are need to have graduation degree in any stream from a university approved by ugc.
another factor that is really important for your eligibility is your age .
to apply for this exam your age should be between

21-30 years if you are a general category aspirant
21-33 years if you are a OBC category aspirant
21-35 years if you are a SC/ST category aspirant.

For UPSC Civil Services Exam minimum eligibility is graduation in any discipline from a recognised University.
Since you are a graduate in sociology you are eligible to appear and if you belong to general category
age limit is 21-30yrs,OBC 21-33yrs,SC/ST 21-35yrs.

After clearing the final rounds of interview with a good rank you can choose between IAS,IPS,IFS,etc.
The no. of attempts for general category is 4times,OBC 7 times and SC/ST unlimited times.
