hi
I am sorry to say but you being from the petrochemical branch is not eligible for giving the IES examination, which is conducted by the upsc.
For giving the IES examination, you need to be a graduate in any of the following streams of engineering only.
Mechanical engineering
Civil engineering
Electrical engineering
ECE
Apart from thee 4 branches no other engineering branch is eligible for giving this exam
Yes the petrochemical engineering students are eligible for IES exam. IES stands Indian engineering service. This exam is conducted by upsc. The petrochemical engineering students choose this any one paper. 1)mechanical engineering 2)civil engineering 3)electrical engineering 4)electronic and communication engineering. The age limit is 21-30. The candidate must be Indian citizen.
dear aspirant,
yes, sir you can apply for IES being a Engineering graduate in Petrochemical Engineering. because according to UPSC for IES you just have completed or appearing in final year of Engineering in any stream with any Percentage or CGPA.

The eligibility is that you need to be a graduate in engineering degree from ANY stream but from a recognised University and institution. You can apply being a B.E/B.Tech or equivalent in any stream be it Petrochemical engg or whichever stream.
BUT the major problem is that there are only 4 papers for which one can appear-
Civil Engg
Mechanical Engg
Electrical Engg
Electronics and telecommunication engg.
Whichever stream one is from, one has to give the exam in any one of the above papers only. So you can appear for IES but only if you can appear in any of these papers.
