Can a B.Tech(I.T) student appear in either IFS or IES exam? Eligibility Criteria for both these exams?

sir....i m vinay verma... & doing b.tech 4th_year from I.T Branch..& want to select in IFS Exam.plese tell me is there any option for I.T branch student........can i eligibile for IFS/IES exam.

I am afraid the two exam which you mentioned do not have much chances for you to appear.Firstly IES recruits only for Electrical,Electronics & Telecommunication,Mechanical and Civil streams and secondly IFS basically recruits from general science fields especially those with Biology,Environmental Biology,Chemistry backgrounds.You can sit for IAS though after you have completed your graduation.Please visit http://upsc.gov.in for more details.Good Luck!

ELIGIBILITY FOR I.F.S.:-

I.F.S. stands for Indian Forest Service.

--Candidate must have a Bachelor�s degree of a recognised University with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor�s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

--Age should between 21 to 30 years.

--Candidate must be physically & medically fit.

--For general candidates minimum height should be 165 cm for male and 150 cm for female candidates

--For male Chest it is fully expanded 84 cm and for female 79 cm.

Eligibility criteria for I.E.S. exam:-

I.E.S. means Indian Engineering Service.

-- The candidates who have completed their graduation from engineering can apply for the exam.
-- This exam is conducted to recruit candidates in streams like

As you are from I.T. stream you have to choose any one stream from the four above streams to apply in I.E.S. exam.

You are eligible for IAS but not IES bcoz only EC, EE ,Mech,Civil students are only eligible for IES.
IAS is an exam conducted through Civil Services exam.

Required Qualification to appear for Civil Services Exam

-You should have passed Graduation degree in any specialization from recognized Institute.
-You are for civil service exam while in graduation final year.
-UPSC Civil service exam has no restriction on graduation percentage.

But IES syllubus is not that much easy.Because you completed your btech in IT.but you have to choose any one of these four categories

There is a three-day schedule of the written examination, comprising all five written examinations.

first day:General English and General Studies(2hrs)
second day:Objective technical paper 2 and 3(morning 2hrs afternoon 2hrs)
third day:Conventional Technical Papers 4 and 5(morning 3hrs and afternoon 3hrs)

Here the problem you have to phase is, if you took electronics and communication as your category then you have to study all technical subjects that a btech ECE student has to study
