Sorry friend an Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering student can't apply for IES exams unless he/she opts to give his exam from any of the 4 core branches eligible in IES exams.

But yes you are eligible for many PSUs like IOCL,BHEL,BEL,SAIL,etc.

The minimum educational eligibility criteria fixed by the commission for appearing in the Engineering Service Exams is Graduate in Engineering from any discipline from a recognised university.So you may appear for Engineering Service Exams.

But keep in mind that you can give examination in any of these four papers like Civil Engineering,Electrical Engineering,Mechanical Enineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.You have to select any one of these four papers and prepare for whole engineering syllabus for that branch.It will be not be so easy as you have to prepare for the entire syllabus of different streams.So you may take coaching and even standard refernce material of subject published by Made Easy Publications.

Besides this you may better prepare for GATE Examination.From there you may get an opportunity to work for PSUs.Till last year many PSUs were recruiting candidates through GATE socre.But keep im mind a firm choice of attempting any one of them so that you get qualified.Because both the examination have different pattern of examination.Whatever you choose you give your best to get selected
