I am an Instrumentation and Control Engineer. Should I apply for companies like BHEL, ONGC through GATE or should I vote for UPSC exams? Is it true that Instrumentation engineering graduates can't apply for UPSC?

Sir,
I am presently working with a private sector.
I am an Instrumentation and Control Engineer, Executive Trainee.
I wanted to know if clearing Gate and applying for Govt sector BHEL , ONGC etc would help or should i apply for UPSC exams ?
But as of i know Instrumentation Engineer cannot apply for UPSC , Right ?

I will suggested you that you go for the GATE as that will be much easier to be successful to get through them rather going for the UPSC

however It is not true that you " can't give UPSC", rather UPSC doesn't restrict anybody on the basis of graduation stream/percentage/mode of graduation etc.

do check other things regarding UPSC as follows:

UPSC can conducts the civil services examsfor( IAS,IPS) also conducts CMS,IES,CPF,CDS,IFS etc......
UPSC takes these exams every year.

IAS,IPS,IES,IFS exams can be conducts in 2 stages namely

Preliminary exam
Main examination.

After completion of preliminary exam you are eligible for Main examination.

After clearing the main examination you will be called for final interview.

Preliminary examination should consist of 2 papers.Which is conducted on objective type only.

Main examination should consist of 9 papers,it is a descriptive exam.

Eligiblity:


Education qualifications;

You have to pass your graduation in any recognized university.
Age qualifications:

Your age should in between 21-30 years.
Upper age limit will be applicable for ST/SC/OBC candidates.

No.of Permissible attempts:

4 for General candidates.
7 for OBC
No limit for SC/ST's.

Nationality:Indian.

You must be physically fit as per rules.

any degree holder can apply for upsc exam.
if you select inBHEL,ONGC,etc., you can work in your won field i.e as instrumentation/control engineer.
if you select UPSC you will in different area.

It is not true that you can't apply for UPSC exam. definitely you can apply for UPSC exam as you have completed your graduation.

through UPSC you can get the jobs like IAS,IPS,IFS,IEs etc.

Eligibility Criteria :

your age must be within 21 years to 30 years.

And there is relaxation in UPPER AGE limit for reserved category candidates(3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates).
