Can I apply for UPSC after doing graduation in distance mode from Kuvempu University? As I am from technical background. Which subjects should I select for UPSC mains? Which books, magazines and news papers will be good?

Hello every one I am new here. First let tell that in childhood I want to be an IAS officer I know that it is not so easy it is toughest one in India I was get inspired by "Mona Pruthi" an IAS topper of 2004. But leave my dream and did my graduation in B.Sc IT from Kuvempu University through Distance Education now I am working as Software Engineer but, i am not satisfied with my job and I leave my job. Now I decided for UPSC exam for an IAS officer. But I have some question which i want ask so please friends help me.

1. Can I apply for UPSC after doing graduation in distance Education and
Kuvempu University is UGC recognised so what for UGC college?
2.As I am from technical backgroun(IT) which subject I need to select for
Optional and Subject what are the list of subject which I can select for
UPSC?
3.Which books, magazine and news will be good?
