    Can I apply for UPSC exam being a software engineer? I want to become an IPS officer. What is the syllabus for it?

    Can i apply for UPSC exam ,but i am doing my software enggineering.and i want to become an IPS officer.please guide me regarding the exams and syllabus that i have to cover.please

    yes, you can apply for UPSC exam being a software engineer.
    the minimum eligibility criteria for UPSC is

    for UPSC exams you must complete or appearing in final year of graduation from recognized college or university. your age must be within 21 years to 30 years

    Yes you are eligible for IPS exam

    - If you have completed your graduation from any of the institutes established by an Act of Parliament or any University deemed by the University Grant Commission under section 3, Act, 1956.
    - If your age is less than 30 years.

    To become IPS you have to appear for Civil Services Exam.

    UPSC Prelims Exam Syllabus 2012

    Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    Current events of national and international importance
    History of India and Indian National Movement
    Indian and World Geography
    Indian Polity and Governance
    Economic and Social Development
    General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change
    General Science.

    Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    Comprehension
    Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
    Logical reasoning and analytical ability
    Decision making and problem solving
    General mental ability
    Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level)
    Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
    English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

    you can apply during your final year.
    to become IPS officer you should write UPSC - CIVIL SERVICE EXAM.
    it has
    preliminary exam
    main exam
    interview

    QUALIFICATION: a bachelor degree of any stream from a recognized university
    AGE LIMIT: 21 -30 yrs for gen
    21-33 yrs for obc
    21-35 yrs for sc/st
    NO.OF ATTEMPTS: 4 for gen
    7 for obc
    no limits for sc/st

    PRELIMS has no optional papers.

    english
    reasoning
    aptitude
    gk
    MAIN exam has optional papers.
    you have to select 2 papers of your choice. but there is no computer related papers.
    based on your interest & knowledge you can select any 2.

    Being a Graduate you can eligible for posts of IPS officer.... Eligibility for IPS officer : 1)appeared/appearing final year of Degree in any stream 2)age must be 21 years to 30 years 3)Qualify in civil exams conducted by UPSC Preliminary exam of civil 2012 is held on 20/05/2012 so,appy for next year Further details visit :www.upsconline.nic.in

    Dear friend...

    there is no need to ask this question...because
    each and every graduate can apply for upsc exams

    UPSC needs only graduates in any stream ..
    from any recognized university...so go head..

    coming to syllabus you have to concentrate on...Indian National Movement
    and General Science.
    also you need to capture Logical reasoning and analytical ability
    Decision making and problem solving in different methods
    ...these are enough to reach it..gud luck

    Yes,You can appear for This exam.If you interest to Apply for the IPS exam then you need to apply in UPSC Exam this exam is conducted by three stages in every year and first you satisfied this eligibility's.

    Eligibility Criteira:-
    >>You should be citizen of india
    >>You should be complete the degree in any stream from recognized university and there is no minimum percentage of mark to require for this exam and then final year students also eligible for this exam.
    >>Your age should between 21 to 30 years
    >>Your height should be 165cm.
    >>You should be physically fit for this examination.

    >>Main Exam
    >>Interview
