Re: Can I give both UPSC and IES exam after completing civil engineering course?

    dear Friend

First of all remove your confusion that:

There is no separate UPSC and IES examination.UPSC conducts IES examinations every year.

I think that you are asking about the Civil services .

After completing your bachelor's degree in civil engineering ,you are eligible for both the examinations that is civil as well as engineering services examination as the required educational qualifications for both examinations are:

    1.civil services:

    >>Bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised university.

    >>Final year candidates are also eligible.

    2.Engineering services:

    >>Bachelor's degree in any stream of engineering but have to choose subjects from following branches only:

    1.civil engineering

    2.Mechanical engineering

    3.electrical enginering

    4.electronics and telecommunication.

NOTE: age limitations for both examinations are same .

    General;21-30 years

    obc:21-33 years

    sc/st:21-35 years.

    No of attempts:

    >>General:4

    >>obc:7

    >>sc/st: no limit.

    thanks

Re: Can I give both UPSC and IES exam after completing civil engineering course?

Sure you are eligible for both exams.

    FOR UPSC Educational Qualifications:
    Degree of any recognized university.

For IES Educational Qualifications: A degree in Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain Services/posts only.
Candidates appearing at their engineering degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete. Candidates qualifying on the result of the written part of the Examina tion will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite examination along with their detailed application form to be filled up at that stage.

    Dear Friend,

I think you are confused over here.
UPSC is government independent body which conducts the various examination including IES exam for various government departments.

if UPSC exam means IAS exam which most candidate names it than you can definitely apply for both examination.

    IES means Indian Engineering Services.
    IAS mean Indian Administrative Service.

Yes you can apply for both the examination at one time provided if you are ready to prepare for both the examinations.
Because UPSC exams are one of the toughest in our country.
And IAS exam is one of the toughest in the whole ASIA.
so you need to give time to both subjects of the examination.
Most of the candidates who are really serious about examination gives only 1 exam at a time to focus on their Goal.
But If you can manage to study for both the examination than go ahead and apply for both.
    All the best

    Hope it solves your query.

    Regards.
