I am really sorry to tell you that you can not apply for the IPS exam if you re not physically fit.

So you are not eligible for the exam if your visual standard is nor correct.

if your vision is 6/6 with spectacles than you can apply for ips exam. but you can go for retina surgery there is such no problem otherwise.

look as i have already answered to some of the other people's queries regarding physical fitness criteria,still i would like to inform you once again.Even if there is no clear cut mentioning of physical fitness defination in the upsc portal,and even if you are not debared from appearing the exam,still its better to opt for streams like IAS rather than going for IPS.still if your doctor assures you a 100% recovery after operation of your retina,then you can surely go for IPS.best of luck!

If you have confidence on yourself then you can choose maths as optional Subject.
>> If you know about maths subject of 6-10 standard then you can choose maths as optional subject.
>> You can also get good score from maths subject.
>> if your goal is fixed then you can pass easily.
>> You are not physically fit IPS Exam
