Can I still apply for Civil Services exam,If there was a Criminal Case filed against me in Past?

sir, i have completed B.tech in civil engineering in 2007.
i got 67 percentage and i want to apply for civil service exams.
unfortunately i was involved in a fight with a local policeman.
though it was their(police) fault , they registered FIR and filled
a case on me under 354,353 sections.thus i was in remand for 15 days
in a central prison. i got bail and we are fighting for justice in court.
the case is yet to come for trail and i am sure that the case will not stand.
in this situation can i apply for civil services? what are the conditions, please let me know.
    thank you.

    Dear Candidate,
-You are not eligible to appear for the Civil Service Exams conducted by the UPSC since you hold a criminal background.
-Although,you speak that it wasn't your fault,it hasn't been proved yet.Further, you were in Jail for a period of 15 Days, which pushes back your case further.
-As you are still held in trial, you are not an eligible candidate to apply for this exams.
-If only your innocence is proved, and you are pardoned of all the cases, with proper dignity, proving all offences against you as wrong,
YOu WILL BE ALLOWED TO APPEAR FOR THE EXAMS AND HOLD A POST AT THE CENTRE,IF YOU QUALIFY.

    Good Luck.

    Dear Candidate

As per the rules of UPSC the candidates who have any criminal case pending against him/her are not eligible for civil services. a candidate can apply only when he/she get NOC or clearance certificate from the court.

so it should be better for you to apply only after you sought out your court case and get clearance from all the charges.

I have a pending case in district court for minor accident. Police charged me under IPC 279, 337 and MVC 119/177.
Can I appear UPSC keeping case running?
What consequences it will be before joining the services.

Friend, I have deeply go through your query and come to the conclusion that presently you are not eligible for UPSC Examination. Because candidates having any criminal background are not allowed for UPSC Examination. You are not able to apply till your case is on pending in the court. You can only eligible if you are declared innocent & spotless by the honourable court, thereafter you may apply to UPSC Examination.
