    Dear Aspirant

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. It is one of the highest post or service offered to the sucessful candidates in civil sevice examination.Selection for this service is done through civil service examination conducted by UPSC.It is one of the most prestigious examination conducted by UPSC every year. The examination is conducted in two phases consisting of preliminary and mains examination.

IES Indian Engineering Services also known as Engineering Services Examination is also conducted by UPSC every year. But IES examination conducted for selection of candidiates for Group A & B services like INdian Railway Services of Electrical or Signal ENgineers,Central Mechanical or Electrical Services,Inidna Naval Armanent Services, etc .The examination is conducted only in four papers of engineering like Electrical Engineering,Civil Engineering,Mechanical Engineering or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. There will be one objective papers on General Ability Test

For IES you need to have engineering degree. You may also apply if have passed both sections A and B of the Institution Examination of the Institution of Engineers
have passed a graduate membership examination of the institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers but for IAS you need minimum Educational qualifications as graduate from any discipline from a recognised university.

    hi
IAS and IEs exams are conducted by the upsc only and the difference between the two exams is
IAS stands for the indian administrative services. in this exam the administrative posts are been assigned to the selected candidates.
whereas IES on the other hand is the exam which stands for the indian engineering services. this is the exam after clearing which, the candidates are provided the engineering posts held accross the country in the government sector.
for giving the IAS exam, any graduate is eligible whereas for giving the IES exam, only the engineering students from the mentioned engineering streams are eligible
    \mechanical engineering
    electrical engineering
    civil engineering
    electronics and communication engineering
in both of these exams the age limit is 21-30 years and the relaxation of 3 and 5 years is given to the obc and the sc/st category respectively
