you can appear in either of the 2 examinations
1) civil service examination conducted by UPSC
if you clear this examination you can get Indian customs and excise services officer post, the highest post by recruitment in customs and excise( Group A)
2) combined graduate level exam conducted by SSC
you can get posts like Inspector in central Excise or preventive officer in customs (group C)
civil service exams will conducted in 3 stages- preliminary(objective type) , mains (essay type) and Interview
The preliminary exam is usually conducted in may month.

For Civil Services minimum educational qualification is graduation.
Eligibility Criteria for Civil Services:
1. Graduation in any discipline
2. Age Limit:
- General: 21 to 30 years
- OBC: 21 to 33 years
- SC/ST: 21 to 35 years
