    Dear friend,

Upsc has changed its prelims pattern from the year 2011 onwards.now the optional papers have been removed from the prelims level.

now you have to appear in two papers.paper 1 will have general studies and paper 2 will be an aptitude test.

you hav to appear in both the exams in the same day.

the following is the ayllabus and you have to prepare for each topic thoroughly.

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
Current events of national and international importance
History of India and Indian National Movement
Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
Indian Polity and Governance Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
    General Science.

Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours

    Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
    Logical reasoning and analytical ability
    Decision making and problem solving
    General mental ability
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level)
Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

    Note -
Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper-II) will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.

    MAINS EXAMINATION

for the preparation of this examination the aspirant should be sure about
the pattern of the examination for a better score in the examination.
as you have asked for the examination pattern of the PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION.
for the 2013 civil services examination
there is no change in the pattern of the preliminary examination till now.
so now for the preliminary examination

General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change, General Science

Current Events of National and International Importance, History of India and Indian National Movement

    Indian and World Geography -
Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the world

    Indian Polity and Governance -
Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues

    Paper II: 200 marks

    Comprehension,
    Interpersonal skills including communication skills,
    Logical reasoning and analytical ability,
    Decision-making and problem solving,
    General mental ability,
    Basic numeracy ,
    English language comprehension .

this will be all for the preliminary examination.
