Dear Aspirant
New pattern bring by UPSC has no optional paper in preliminary examination.Weightage has been given more to general studies.Only one optional is to be selected from 25 optional provided by UPSC that too in main examination.

according to the new selection procedure of civil services examination there is no optional subject in prelims, in prelims all papers would be of general studies. only one subject is supposed to be optional subject in mains exam.

UPSC made changes in the pattern for Civil Services Exam. Now there is no optional subject in Prelims and now you have to choose one optional subject from the list of optional subjects. Now General Studies given more weightage than Optional Subjects.
Civil Services has three phase and you have to clear all the phase:
