3. SC/ST caste - unlimited attempts.
Dear pal,
- Aspirants are limited in the number of attempts in the UPSC exam so that they put their full effort in their attempts and this also helps in reducing the number of aspirants appearing every year.
- Aspirant from any category can apply for the exam from 21 years of age .General category aspirant can make 4 attempts within a age limit of 30.
- BC, MBC aspirant can make 7 attempts within upper age of 33 whereas physically challenged and Sc and st aspirant can make maximum of 15 within age limit of 35.
- My advice is not to think of making several attempts . Put effort in the single attempt itself so that you clear and get selected for the job in the first attempt itself. The duration of selection takes more than 3 months.
- Aspirant is considered to make attempts even if you fail in the aptitude exam itself.
Number of attempts: -
Every general eligible candidate is allowed to attempt the Civil Services Examination 4 times.
OBC- 7 times
SC/ST- infinite till age limit
number of attempts for general cateogory=4
number of attempts for OBC cateogory=7
