i am an occupational therapist. i have done BOT and MOT in neurosciences under central govt. kindly guide me from which category i can take UPSC exam and which subjects can be taken for it.

In my view you can apply for Civil service exam. I hope that your degree in neuroscience will be equivalent of graduation.
UPSC organizes the civil service exam once in a year for the recruitment in following posts
IAS
IPS
IRS
UPSC is conducted at national level and lots of candidates take part in this exam.
In this year UPSC exam is in process. Mains exam is going to be held on 5/10/2012.
Candidates can apply for Civil service exam in next year 2013.
UPSC will issue the notification for civil exam at 2/2/2012.

Application fee: Rs 100.
Qualification for Civil exam
You should be graduated in any stream from recognized university or its equivalent.
Age should be 21 to 30 years.
Age relaxation
SC/ST + 5 years
OBC + 3 years
You must be Indian.
Exam procedure
Preliminary exam ( 400 marks)
Mains exam (2000 marks)
Interview (300 marks)
Attempts in Civil exam
General candidates can apply 4 times.
OBC candidates can apply 7 times
SC/ST candidates can apply till the age of 35 years
In mains exam candidates will have to choose two optional subjects.
