My age is 38. I'm a government servant. Can I appear in Civil Services?

Can I appear civil services examination being a candidate at an age of 38 years and i am a government servent.

* But you see that the age limit to appear for this exam is 21 to 30 years..!

* This is the age limit which has been fixed by the Union Public Service Commission, India..

* The age limit is same for open categories but is relaxable upto 3 years for BC and upto 5 years for SC and ST candidates...!

* So maximum 35 years of age for SC/ST and 33 for BC to appear...!

* You haven't mentioned your caste but said that you are 38 currently...

The age limit for the exam is the 21 to 30 years for the unreserved category.


The age relaxation for the reserved category.


3 years for the OBC category and 5 years for the SC/ST cateogy.


So there is no age relaxation for you.

The age limit for different categories for all the civil services exams is follows
1)21-30 years for general candidate.
3 years upper age relaxation for OBC
5 years upper age relaxation for SC/ST.
5 years upper age relaxation for ex-government service man.
10 years of upper age relaxation for physically handicapped candidate.
5 year of upper age relaxation for jammu and kashmir(general category)
8 years for upper age relaxation for jammu and kashmir(sc/st)

for Gen. 21 to 30
For obc 21 to 33
For sc/st 21 to 35

because for CIVIL SERVICE age should be 21 to 30 years.

age relaxation for obc 3 years, sc/st 5 years, for ex-servicemen 5 years, for ph 10 years.

so you can see clearly that you have crossed age limit.
