My date of birth is 6th june 1993. I have interest to write Ies exam. Am i eligible to write Ies in 2014

The eligibility for IES exam is;

You have passed graduation in engineering from recognized university.

Age limit 21-30 yrs and relaxation is given to sc/st and obc category.

So this year you are not eligible for the exam..You can apply for it next year.

Yes, In 2014 it is possible as you will complete 21 years of age. but make sure you have completed graduation also before this time.

UPSC application form comes in month of November to December, so after completing your graduation you can apply for exam.

The only eligibility criteria is:

- Graduation from govt. recognized university.

- Indian citizenship

- Age of 21 to 30 years.

- Age relaxation of 3 and 5 years for OBC and SC/ST category.

Yes you will be eligible in 2014 to appear in IES.The age limit for appearing in IES is 21-30years for general category.Prepare hard for the exam and do not waste attempts by just checking the level of paper.You have nearly 1year time.Complete each and every detail of your subject and do not neglect GS section as that determines the difference between good rank and average rank.All the best

1.You must be an Indian citizen
2.You must have attained 21 years of age and must not have crossed the age of 30 years on 1st august of the year of exam.However there is age relaxation of 3 years for OBC category and 5 years for SC/ST/PD category.
3.You must hold an undergraduate BE degree in any of the following to apply for IES:
1.Mechanical Engineering
2.Electrical Engineering
3.Civil Engineering
4.Electronics and telecommunication Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Indian Engineering Service Examination 2013

You must posses a bachelor's degree in engineering in any one of the following disciplines from a recognized university

Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

Or should have passed graduate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers

Age should be minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines that is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

According to your mentioned date of birth, you will complete - 20 years, 6 months and 26 days of your age as on 01-01-2014 that will be required by UPSC board and minimum age should be 21 years to apply for this exam that means you will not be eligible to apply for Indian Engineering Service Examination 2014

dear sorry to say that you are not eligible to apply for IES exam in 2014. because for IES you must have attained the age of 21 years on 1 January of the year of exam. but you will attain the age of 21 years on 6th June 2014. so you can only apply for IES exam in 2015.

For IES(Indian Engineering Services) exam you must have engineering degree in any discipline. Indian Engineering Services exam is conducted by UPSC every year. But candidates are required to give the papers in any one of the following four streams.
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Mechanical Engineering


for appearing in exam you have to fulfill some other requirement like:

>>Engineering degree in any discipline from recognized college or university

>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years . there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
