    hi,

No there is no necessity to go through any other UPSC exam before appearing in IAS Exam.

You can directly appear in IAS exam, but you must prepare hard for IAS.

You can also try any State level exam for practice before IAS but it is not necessary.

    All the Best.

No it is not at all necessary for you to give any upsc exam before giving the IAS exam. there is no such rule or compilation such that you need to give the different exams of upsc to give the IAS exam.
Therefore you are free to give the IAS Exam
    Gud luck

NO friend there is no necessary that to be an IAS officer you need to apply for any other UPSC exam.

To be an IAS officer you should apply only for Civil Service exam.

Civil Service exam is organized by the Union Public Service Commission twice in a year at national level.

You can fill the application form for Civil Service exam through UPSC official website http://upsconline.nic.in

Here you will apply in online mode.

You can also apply for the Civil Service exam in offline mode also.

There is no such rules or compulsions that you need to appear any other exam of UPSC before appearing for Civil services exam. You can appear for Civil Services as a fresher who have just passed graduation or is in the final year or semester of graduation.Your age limit should be within 21-30 for general category. But if you appear in state level PCS exams, then it might give you an idea about the exam pressure and patterns to some extent. But that is irrelevant if you are well prepared for the biggest test.So better would be to concentrate on the exam rather than wasting your precious time on other exam qualification for civil services

Re: Is it necessary for me to go through any other UPSC exam before appearing in IAS exam?

No dear this is not compulsory that you go through any other UPSC exam before appearing for UPSC IAS examination because every year UPSC Board launches the open and direct recruitment process for IAS examination and this is unique system which is not changed from beginning that is why the recruitment process of UPSC board is fine and fair and enough transparent and if you want to apply for UPSC Civil Service examination then you should have following eligibility criteria

A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and if you are pursuing final year then also you are eligible to apply for this examination

Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

If you have above mentioned qualification then you can apply for UPSC IAS preliminary examination between - 5th March 2013 to 4th April 2013 that means you have not more time left to apply for this examination so that you must visit at www.uspc.gov.in and apply for this examination by following this procedure

Visit at www.uspc.gov.in and then click at - UPSC Online Applications and then click at - Online Applications for various examinations of UPSC and then you will see a new page and you have to click at - Part I Registration - click here and instantly you will get a application form on the webpage and you have to fill that application form by providing your all accurate details and if you comes under General or OBC then you have to pay the fee by selection payment method but if you comes under SC or ST or PWD or ESM then you do not need to pay examination fee and when you will click at continue at the last of the application form then you will see payment system and you can pay the fee through online or offline mode and then you will receive a registration number and you have to copy that and click at Part II Registration and provide your registration number and date of birth and upload your passport size photograph and signature in scanned image and click at submit and print your application form immediately and keep that safe and secure for future reference

    All the best
