Dear Friend, their is negative marking in UPSC Examinations.
For every wrong attempt you will be penalised, as 1/3 marks will be deucted.

in multiple choice questions each wrong answer carry minus 33% marks of the total marks that question carries is awarded.

yes there is negative marking for each wrong answer in UPSC Exams. There is 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Eligibility Criteria For Civil Services:
>>you must have completed or appearing in final year of graduation.
>>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

The preliminary exam will be conducted for 2 papers of 200marks each.The test is totally objective.There will be Negative marking of 1/3 of the allotted marks of the specific question.There will be penalty of 0.33 of marks assigned to the question which is answered wrong.

upsc exam is nothing but civil service exam,conduct by upsc (union public service commission),every year.
civil service exam consists of following parts=
1)preliminary test (objective base questions)
2)main exam (aspirants who cleared the preliminary test ,can go for main exam)
3)interview=short list candidate would be call for the interview.
coming towards negative marking=yes there is penalty for wrong answer answered (marked )by the candidate in the objective type only
tips=when not sure about the answer better not mark it as it may cause negative marking.leads to lower your records.
-first answer those questions in which you are confident.

in the upsc examination, the negative marking is fixed. And there will be a deduction of 1/3 marks from each question, which t=you have attempted and that is wrong.
Therefore it is advisable that you should be very careful while attempting for the answers in the upsc competitive examination because there is the negative marking which can destroy your dreams to go to the next level.
And it is said, unless you are 80% sure about a particular question, don�t go for the answer it is better to leave the question rather than getting a minus 1.
