You should write for the civil services exam conducted by upsc once in a year in the month of march and april.
You can get notifications from the website of upsc and from employment daily in the month of october/november.

To join IPS post, you have to given IPS exam which is conducted by UPSC every year.
Eligibility;-
--you must be graduate from a recognized university in any stream.
---General age limit is 21-30 years.
--you must be Indian citizen
--you must be physically fit.
IPS exam is conducted only one time in a year.

- You must have to apply for the civil services examination for Indian police services (IPS).
- This examination has three stages which you need to clear that are Preliminary exam, main exam and interview
- You must have the minimum qualification of graduation and the age limit required for it is 21 years to 30 years.
- This examination is conducted once everyone.
- If you are an general category student then you have four attempts, for obc category it's seven attempts and no limit for sc/st category.

The one and only examinations conducted by the Union Public service commission for the recruitment in different services ,IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS is the Civil services examinations .It is one of the toughest entrance examination of the India.
You can imagine the toughness by understanding the data that out of almost ten lacs canddidates who appear for the civil services examinations only about 300-400 students are selected after the three different stages which are as follows:
1.Preliminary test
2.Main examination
3.Personal interview

Last date of receiving application:
Date of CSAT examination:26/05/2013.
The main examination will be held in November.The applications are going on for the CSE 2013,You can also apply for the exam .For online application click here.
Before applying ,you should check the eligibility criteria that is bachelor's degree in any discipline is the minimum educational qualifications required and the age should be between 21-30 years for general with three years and five years age relaxation for obc and sc/st respectively.
