    Hello Friend,

From your post, it seems that you are attracted towards civil services because of opportunity to earn as much as possible OR as much as one can. My friend, if you think I am correct then there are many things that you should know before opting for civil services.
The preparation for civil services is a tough job where you will have to study for minimum 12 hrs a day and that too without fail. The IAS officers that you see enjoying various privileges and perks have all gone through this phase. They are considered as the best minds of the country. They run the whole administration or it is better to say the whole country. They look after more than 30 departments in a district. They help in framing various policies and programmes, be it electricity policy, telecom policy, NREGA, RGGVY to name few of them. It is the responsibility of an IAS officer to maintain law and order in a district. Their job is 24 hr job and that is why they are given various privileges by our government.
Also, the admiration that an IAS officer get is not because he/she is at the top position but because of the power attached with that position. Moreover, it is one of the most thankless job in the world. If you work without taking bribe, people will call you fool, and if you take bribe, people will call you corrupt. And, people do not admire, they fear. So, do not opt for civil services to show-off. If you want to something big for yourself, for your society, for you country, then opt for it. My friend, far more than anything else, it is the right frame of mind that is necessary to crack this exam and that too does not have any guarantee.
You are in class XII right now, so you still have plenty of time to prepare yourself for IAS exam. Though opting for maths is not necessary, but to run away from something just because you can't handle it is not the trait of an IAS officer. Imagine a minister come to your office and ask you to do something that is against your wish, will you run away from your office or will you take leave for 7 days? So, my advice to you is to take tutions from good tutors. IAS exam need basic understanding of mathematics. For that you can see previous year question papers available on UPSC site.
Without loosing any year, you will take around 4-5 years to become an IAS officer. But, that is very very very difficult call. Regarding which one is better among art or science: they are only medium use to find the traits required for IAS. If you have those traits, it doesn't really matter whether you are from science background or from arts one.
Hope this helps. If you have any doubt, please let me know. AND ONE MORE THING. Do not use mobile English. Try to write English in a better way next time. GOOD LUCK.

    Thanks,
    goyalk

To become an IAS Officer you have to clear the prestigious Civil Services Exams(CSE).
IAS Officers are popularly known as civil servants ,they serve the nation and its people
by rendering services in the administration of the country.
They help in planning, governance & development of India in the Civil Dept.
UPSC condusts the CSE every year to make recruitments to various posts like
    IAS,IPS,IFS,etc.
Through UPSC CSE recruitments are made to a total of
    24 posts/services.

UPSC CSE is conducted in 3 stages :

-CSAT/Prelims Exam-is conducted to shorlist candidates for Mains exam.
It consists of 2 papers of General Studies of 200 marks each.

    -Mains Exam
-is conducted to test the indepth knoweledge and intellect of the candidates.
It consists of 9 papers of total weightage 2000 marks.Choice of 2 optional subjects has to be made
and 2 papers of each subject prepared for the Mains exams.

    -Interviews
-is the test of personality of candidates and is of total 300 marks. It is the final stage of selection
and after securing a good rank in the Merit list you will be selected for IAS Officer post.

    Eligibility for CSE :

    Age Limit :
General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam
    OBC-21-33yrs
    SC/ST-21-35yrs

    Educational Qualification :
Minimum educational qualification is graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognised University.

So its alright if you drop maths at the 12 Boards level. You can opt for arts subjects as most part of the syllabus in Prelims/CSAT exam are related
to subjects like economics, sociology, geography, political science, etc. This will help you to save time on preparing for prelims and
devote the same time to prepare for mains exams which is every subjective & vast and also requires indepth knoweledge of topics.
It will become easier for you to prepare for CSE and you will not need to study maths as it it not related to eligibility criteria to apply for CSE.
You should opt for arts/science according to your interest and command over the subjects and which you find easier to prepare by gaining
    indepth knoweledge of it.

    Attempts :
    General Category-4 times
    OBC-7 times
    SC/ST-Unlimited times
